Creative Development: Game Republic (Part 1)

Considering I've been entered into the student Showcase for game republic I thought it would be a good idea to research more about it.

Game Republic is a network for game Studios in the UK but more specifically yorkshire. Amongst their members are Four Door Lemon, Rockstar Leeds, Sumo Digital and various universities. This year my College, Leeds College of art has just joined Game Republic thus allowing us to enter their student showcase.

Game Republic's mission statement is "More Business For Game Republic Members", basically providing a network for game studios in Yorkshire to interact with each other, they aim to become one of the key components for networking within Yorkshire even boasting setting up meetings for/with Sony Entertainment Europe, Onlive, Microsoft, Facebook and Unity.

Their list of members also boast a wide collection of respectable companies which make the idea of membership a lot more appealing as it will give me an opportunity to meet with people from companies such as team 17, Oddworld Inhabitants and Rockstar Leeds, which could mean many job opportunities as well as many connections.

In my next post I'll be looking into how one becomes a member of Game Republic and the benefits that come with it.
